Abstract
Hair loss caused by chemotherapy, a cancer treatment, can be partial or full (alopecia). It increases psychological stress, which may drive some patients to refuse their treatment. The effects of the chemotherapy medication on the hair follicles, which continually receive blood from the superficial scalp arteries, result in chemotherapy-induced alopecia (CIA).The aim of project is to design and manufacturing sensor-controlled scalp cooling system to prevent CIA in cancer patients by lowering the temperature of the scalp immediately before, during, and after chemotherapy causing in decreased blood move to the scalp region so that fewer chemotherapy medication reach the hair cells to prevent hair losses. The idea of this paper is new because turned from mechanic parts to electronic parts, so use new technique and components that different from other papers, it replaced compressor and condenser with peltier and radiator to compare the results if its within acceptable range as the main results, so no one used peltier to manufacturing the device. The main designs of the system are two parts: cap unit and cooling system. The components of the system are (Inner silicone, Aluminum cover, Cap cover insulated, Peltier, Fun, Radiator, Water pump, Relay 1ch 30 and Relay 1ch). A coolant that circulates through peltier provides cooling to the entire scalp region. The system was successfully with low cost and also when test it without patients it give acceptable results. The results from this system is acceptable range of temperature it’s between(8–14)°C when compare with others papers.
