Abstract
This paper constructs a Chinese font size evaluation index of the vehicle central control interface combined with subjective and objective data, which makes up for the lack of ignoring objective data related to driving safety in previous studies, and improves the reliability of font size recommendations. Based on the experimental design method of single factor repeated measurement, the driving data, subjective scale data and task response data are collected. Through correlation analysis and mean value comparison, the reasonable recommended value of Chinese font size is obtained. The results show that there is a significant correlation between the visual subjective score, usability, workload, task response time and speed standard deviation and the font size. The visual subjective score shows that 5.5 mm–7.5 mm is the most suitable font size, and some subjects can also accept 9.5 mm. The usability is positively correlated with the font size within a certain range, and the workload, speed standard deviation and task response time are negatively correlated with the font size, but this negative correlation trend tends to flatten after the font size is greater than 7.5 mm. Therefore, 5.5 mm–7.5 mm is a more appropriate subtitle and text size, and 9.5 mm can be used for first-class titles.
