Abstract

The paper aims to outline the state-of-the-art related to the possible reuse of the Posidonia Oceanica in the construction sector. The Posidonia Oceanica constitutes an important resource from the point of view of the protection of the marine environment, however the coastal deposits of Posidonia Oceanica, caused by the modification of the sea currents due to the construction of coastal infrastructures, constitute a serious problem for management and tourist perspective. The paper takes stock of the European and Italian regulatory framework and analyzes the results of the studies present in the literature concerning the treatments Posidonia Oceanica should undergo before its reuse in the construction sector, the construction products in which it can be used and the physical-mechanical performance of these products.
