Abstract

The continuous advancements in technology and multimedia play a crucial role in enhancing lecture-style and hands-on learning materials. Although many studies have investigated the relationship between anxiety, self-confidence, and the learning process by modifying learning preferences or learning materials and multimedia interventions, often multimedia has been utilized as a tool for presenting learning materials and teaching learners how to use them. Additionally, there has been limited investigation into the application of hands-on learning. Fortunately, immersive virtual reality (IVR) has become increasingly prevalent in operational training courses due to technological advancements. However, current studies often only evaluate the effectiveness of IVR as a teaching tool and fail to examine the impact of the learning process or the relationship between learning outcomes and emotions. To address this gap, we conducted a quasi-experiment to investigate the influence of different learning materials (IVR and slides) on learners’ emotional states and hands-on performance. This study aims to provide insights into the impact of learning materials on learners and inform future developments in educational technology.
