Abstract
Handmade papermaking technology is an important part of Chinese traditional craft culture and a precious intangible cultural heritage. However, on the one hand, this unpopular minority skill is facing the dilemma of disappearing and is in urgent need of recording; on the other hand, the record of handmade paper needs to be presented on a daily basis, which is difficult to achieve by traditional phonetic recording or written recording. Therefore, this paper uses VR ethnography to record, protect and inherit handmade paper culture and integrates VR panoramic photography, VR panoramic video, VR three-dimensional video, and three-dimensional scanning based on web GL to record and display the process and scene of handmade papermaking in many directions and understand the narrative effect of VR ethnography through user feedback. It is found that compared with traditional recording methods, VR ethnography is more three-dimensional and vivid. This paper hopes to provide a reference for the application of VR in protecting and inheriting intangible cultural heritage.
