Abstract
While artificial intelligence is nowadays routinely and seamlessly part of our everyday life, a large potential of its impact is yet emerging on fundamental economic, environmental, and societal challenges such as developing alternative modes of driving, especially in urban areas. This article discusses a Luxembourgish Testing and Experimentation Facility specifically devoted to the expansion of electromobility, as part of the Digital Europe CitCom.ai project. The underlying approach combines cross-disciplinary expertise (in energy management, sustainability assessment, advanced computing, and secure communications) with powerful and trustworthy artificial intelligence for the collaborative design, implementation, and assessment of a range of innovative services answering the needs of Smart Cities and Communities for the benefit of citizens.
