Abstract

Blockchains are utilized in supply chains of small and medium enterprises in addition to conventional technologies. As part of a research project, two use cases have been implemented, tested and evaluated in pilot projects using two demonstrators. The first use case tested is a transparent proof of origin for wood products in order to reduce illegal logging and to be able to prove certifications. The second use case focuses on the automation and validation of an order process to eliminate errors due to manual activities and standardize interfaces. The paper provides a detailed overview of the use cases, as well as the technical implementation and economical evaluation of the solutions. Both qualitative and quantitative aspects have been analyzed.
