Abstract

In our days, climatic change is a novel factor that impels the appearance of extreme events associated with such changes. Among the various undesirable effects, droughts impose conditions of hydric stress more and more frequently to numerous supply systems. This scenario has created favorable conditions for the application of data mining techniques as a powerful tool that allows us to interpret and accurately forecasting the current and future scenarios. This study aims at recognizing the main climatic and bioclimatic factors that play a role in the domestic demand for water and its relative weight through the application of data mining techniques. Starting from a sample of clients within a sector of Aguas de la Habana the domestic consumptions were contrasted based on climatic and bioclimatic variables. The analysis spans a period from 1 January 2008 through 31 December 2020. Applying techniques for selection of variables satisfactory results are obtained that allow defining those variables having a higher impact on consumption.
