Abstract
Historical archives constitute a treasure of humanity in which we can find information from the past, to know where we come from and what events characterized previous populations. The concept of a historical archive, therefore, can be depicted through an enormous quantity of documents and testimonies of inestimable value preserved over the years in safe places more or less accessible to the general public. Over the years and thanks to digital transformation, historical and cultural heritage archives have also had the need to digitize their documentary treasure within more performing digital archives able to manage metadata and annotation. In this paper, we present an architecture for metadata and Semantic Annotation of archives and an open-source software solution.
