Abstract

Industrial compressed air systems are important contributors to energy demand and energy costs. Thus, numerous measures to increase their energy efficiency have been proposed. Yet it often remains difficult for decision-makers to evaluate the different conceivable measures. Difficulties arise among others from uncertainties related to the evaluation of relevant criteria and from diverging interests within a company. As a mean to facilitate the decision-making processes for evaluating energy-efficiency measures, this paper suggests a fuzzy version of the PROMETHEE method which allows explicitly dealing both with multiple decision-makers and evaluations under uncertainty.
