Abstract

As modern systems are becoming complex and large rapidly, the dependability of these systems are important. Standards and regulations for developing software of these systems usually need restricted programming language and formal methods. For reasons of scale and complexities of these large systems it is preferable to use the modern object-oriented technique during the development, such as Unified Modern Language (UML). While using UML models, the notation and associated techniques should ensure to be dependable. We have proposed the method for developing a Dependability-Case (D-case) based on UML models. In this paper, the HAZOP will be used for hazard analysis and presents a systematic way of performing HAZOP on UML models.
