Abstract
The Internet of Things promises to integrate Constrained-Node Networks (CNNs) with the Internet in a standard interoperable manner. To achieve this, automated, efficient and standardised discovery of things and their services is required. We developed EADP: an efficient, extensible and adaptable discovery protocol for CNNs. In this paper, we study the challenges of adopting DNS-based Service Discovery (DNS-SD) as a service description for EADP. We implemented DNS-SD for EADP in Contiki OS and evaluated it in Cooja. Results show the capacities of such an approach to transparently bridge between CNNs and the Internet. However, many DNS-SD related issues have been identified and need to be addressed to achieve interoperable discovery of things.
