Definition

The future location of a moving object is modeled as a linear function of time, consisting of its location at reference time and its velocity. A centralized server manages the motion functions of all moving objects and an object issues an update to the server whenever its velocity changes. In Fig. 1, object o1 is at location (2, 9) at time 0, and its velocities (represented with arrows) along the x- and y-dimensions are 1 and − 2, respectively. A negative sign implies that the object is moving towards the negative direction of an axis.
