Abstract

The aim of this paper is to investigate usability maturity models’ role in integrating agile processes and user centred design. Usability maturity models can be used as a diagnostic tool to assess the consistent, systematic and effective implementation of user centred design in agile projects. The researcher investigated the suitability of two usability maturity models in assessing user centred design capability in agile projects. This paper reports on utilising one of those models: Usability Maturity Model-Human Centredness Scale (UMM-HCS). It reports on applying UMM-HCS in five case studies that integrated agile and user centred design and using the model in assessing the usability maturity level of those five case studies. The paper reflects on and scrutinises the suitability of UMM-HCS for utilisation in the context of agile projects.
