What Kind of Foreign Baseball Players Want to Get Japanese Baseball Team?

Abstract

We want to know what kind of foreign baseball player were hired in Japanese Baseball League. We used the data that is from Nippon Professional Baseball (NPB). We only used the result which is batter for one year. At first, we want to know about characteristics which is the team current situation. Then we used the way that is principal component analysis. The ingredients are a hit, 2-base hit, 3-base hit, Home run, Run batted in, Stolen base, Sacrifice, Four balls, Dead ball, Struck out and Double play hitting. We could find the two components. First, it is power hitter that is a lot of home run. Second, it is short hitter that is difficult to become out. We used the result which show a graph which is team current situation. That mean, we could easy to understand that is team characteristics, because we could see the graph. We compared between current team situation and except foreign baseball players. The reason is because we want to know the position that the role of foreign baseball players. We could find reason that the role of foreign baseball players. There is one reason for this. Foreign baseball players are needed to power. That is why Japanese team don’t have a lot of power hitter. Therefore Japanese team need to hire foreign baseball players for the win.

1 Introduction

1.1 About Japanese Baseball League

We used the data that is from Nippon Professional Baseball (NPB) at that site. NPB have two leagues. There are Pacific League and Central League. The two leagues have six teams of each, NPB has total 12 teams. The 12 team have a home ground around Japan. The way how to become champion in Japanese baseball league for one year. At first, the team have to win the league for one year as much as possible, the team is decided to belong the league which are Pacific League or Central League. The battle is held 143 for a year. The team keep winning in the top three for one year each leagues. After the season, the battle would start between second rank of team and third rank of team. The team which is winner that the team could battle first rank of team. As a result, the team is won the league each of Pacific League and Central League, Both of winning team fight baseball game to be become Japanese champion. Major League Baseball (MLB) also have two leagues. There are American League and National League same as NPB system, but MLB have a lot of teams. There are 15 of each leagues. MLB has total 30 teams and there are divided three in the league. Consequently there are five teams for each. They are different between NPB and MLB, This is the number of people that could be registered in the regular team. Regular team means that first team. For example, MLB has the Major League and the Minor League. Regular team means Major League. In NPB, it could register 25 players for one year, but it is limited to register foreign baseball players. NPB is decided to register up to four players who are from except Japanese player. They have rules to admit foreign baseball players or not. There are four rule. Firstly, the players go to school which is junior high school, high school or junior college at least for three years. Secondly, the players go to university at least for four years. Thirdly, the players live in Japan for three years, in addition the players play baseball in the company at least for five years. Forth, the players could be gotten the right which is Free Agent (FA). FA means that the player could play baseball in NPB at least 8 years, then the player could be gotten a FA. If you would like to go to foreign country though getting FA, the player could play baseball in NPB at least for 9 years. After 8 or 9 years, you could be gotten FA, the player could go anywhere. If there are team, the team want to be gotten you, the player could move that team. If the players full at least one rule, the players could be allowed Japanese players. Furthermore, NPB couldn’t be allowed to register only pitcher and batter. If the team want to register four foreign baseball players, the team should register both pitcher and batter at least one players. In contrast, MLB could register 28 players for one year, MLB doesn’t have limitation to register foreign baseball players. Therefore the Japanese team want to get successful players who is from foreign baseball players. The team want to search the players who will be successful foreign baseball players in Japan.

1.2 Date Used for the Analysis

The data that could be used for Japanese Baseball Team. The team should be hired foreign baseball player for the win. There is a data that could be used Japanese Baseball team.

1.3 Explain the Data

The team data used for the analysis.

It is used 670 player who is playing in Japanese Baseball league in 2015. The data include foreign player. Table 1 is shown the rank of league on 2015. This season HOWKS became a champion on 2015.

Table 2 means a number of people who is played regular team. NPB has rules which are limited to register on the regular team. The number are 28 players. In addition, if the players are moved from regular team to second team, the player could not register on regular team for 10 days. second team means that Minor league in case of Japan.

Tables 3 and 4 means salary on Japanese Baseball League of each club. Japanese League were gotten a salary less than Major League Baseball. From this result, the Japanese baseball player want to go Major baseball league.

1.4 The Team’s Home Ground

The map is shown where home ground of each team. The 12 teams are scattered in Japan. Mainly Pacific league are scattered in Japan. Pacific league is a local contact type more than Central League. The rectangular is showed Pacific league (Fig. 1).

2 Result of Analysis

2.1 The Data to Analyze

The Table 2 is shown that a number of foreign baseball players in each team. Japanese Baseball League has total 72 foreign baseball players. The league has 6 foreign baseball player in average. It mean that there are 6 foreign baseball players in each club. However the team could be registered 4 foreign baseball player in the regular team. Some of the foreign baseball players could not play baseball in regular team that the player will be left the team next year. In addition, the team was spent a lot of money to be hired foreign baseball players and also the tem was spent a lot of money that to be used searching about many foreign baseball players who is the better player for the team (Table 5).

A hit means that the batter hit the ball from the pitcher, the batter run to first base and stop the base. 2 base hit means that the batter hit the ball from the pitcher, the batter run to second base and stop the base. 3 base hit means that the batter hit the ball from the pitcher, the batter run to third base and stop the base. Home run means that the batter hit the ball from the pitcher, the ball over the fence with no bound or the batter run to fourth base. Run batted in means that the batter hit the ball from the pitcher, besides the runner run to the fourth base. Stolen base means that the runner run to next base such as from first base to second base during the pitcher is throwing the ball to catcher. Sacrifice means that the batter is advanced the runner to next base by the batter’s sacrificed. Four balls means that the pitcher is thrown the four balls and then the batter is advanced to first base. Dead ball means that pitcher hit the ball to the batter’s body. And then the batter advanced to the first base. Struck out means that the pitcher is gotten three stories from the batter. The batter is out. Double play hitting means that the batter hit the ball from the pitcher, the batter is gotten the double out.

2.2 Role of Foreign Baseball Player

This figure is shown that the foreign baseball player were given big effect in the team. The players are power hitter because the upper graph is shown the two players in the circle. The circle means power hitter. The bottom graph were shown except the two players. Others teams were show same as EAGLES Japanese Baseball League.

2.3 The Result of Foreign Player

Table 6 is shown that result of two foreign baseball players on 2015. The data shown that the players hit a lot of home run. Therefore Fig. 2 shown that result.

3 Conclusion

3.1 The Data’s Conclusion

In the future we have to use the data which is from Major League Baseball (MLB) because if we use the data we more collect answer about who is the supporter for the team. On 2016, EAGLES was left Wily Modesto Peña, the team is not enough long hitter. Therefore the team was hired Japhet Isidro Amador in 2016. The player is from Mexico and the player was gotten an award in Mexican baseball league. EAGLES expect to success in Japanese baseball league. As a result of subject, almost Japanese baseball teams were helped foreign baseball player who are meant power hitter.

4 Further Task

As a result of subject only were used batter’s data. We could be included pitcher’s data. If we could be used the data, we could be gotten detail information. In addition, we were used data which is only for one year. If we were used for several year’s data, we could know player’s growing or decline. In conclusion, the team could be easy to decide to hire the player who will expect to success in the team.
