Abstract

As the healthy eating trend gains momentum and the number of product choices explode, grocery shoppers face a distinctive challenge in making effective decisions. This article summarizes our efforts to improve consumer’s ability to choose healthier food product choices. Through the framework of Health-Belief Model, we constructed a survey for shoppers and; based on the findings, designed a solution that adapts to each user’s unique cocktail of preferences.

Proof-of-concept test was conducted on 12 female graduate students to verify the mock solution’s persuasiveness. It was found that a noteworthy portion of subjects improved their selections after intervention. Finally, we propose a number of possible development avenues that may serve as our future directions.
