Abstract

Traffic monitoring and surveillance is advancing in recent years. This paper proposes a survey on an overview of various traffic sensing, monitoring techniques. Several projects have been developed for the detection and tracking of vehicles on multiple scenarios. The vehicle monitoring results depends mainly on the camera positioning. This paper gives a detailed description on the different camera positioning and monitoring which includes straight roads and intersections. In this survey a detailed description is given on preprocessing techniques, vehicle detection and tracking methods. Finally paper concludes with the challenges and the future scope.
