Abstract
A Multimedia broadcast/multicast service (MBMS) architecture can be considered for enabling multimedia vehicle-to-everything (V2X) services for mobile communication networks. However, since the MBMS architecture is designed for transmitting data to stationary users, it is inefficient in providing network services to moving vehicular users. Therefore, in this paper we propose a novel MBMS architecture which simultaneously utilizes both serving communication path and preconfigured communication path called as MBMS bearer. In the proposed scheme, parameters used for establishing MBMS bearer are previously stored into the candidate service area that expected to be used in the future. When the vehicular users actually move to the candidate service area, the proposed scheme activates the stored parameters and switches the conventional communication path into the newly established one. By using the proposed MBMS architecture, we expect that the vehicular users can be effectively supported by multimedia MBMS services from the mobile networks.
