Abstract
The current study seeks to investigate the role of employees’ age in the perception of reasons of failure of enterprise system (ES) implementations. On the basis of empirical data gathered from Polish ES practitioners and following grounded theory approach, the taxonomy of reported failure factors has been developed. Next, an analysis into the differences of failure factors perceptions depending on respondent age has been conducted. The age-based analysis illustrated that perceptions of ES failure factors might vary with employee age. The main findings suggest that older employees tend to perceive ES failures from the perspective of a company and its organization, while younger workers recognize causes of ES failures mainly in the organization of ES implementation project.
