Abstract

This paper presents early results of the work on the report containing an analysis of EU funded grid projects. The goals of this research, undertaken with the support of the GRIDSTART project, include study of various solutions, discovery of overlapping efforts, stimulating the reuse of grid components developed within the scope of European projects and identification of open issues in particular areas of grid development. The paper focuses mainly on ten initiatives clustered by GRIDSTART. We present here a brief survey of grid projects, a taxonomy used to categorise projects’ efforts, an analysis of applications, and a summary of research and development performed within the scope of particular projects.
