Abstract

The CDDB database available in the Internet is widely used for the retrieval of metadata associated with almost any CD record. The database is queried automatically each time a CD is copied on a computer with appropriate software installed. However, this database could be used also for musical recording searching. An advanced query algorithm was prepared to that end employing the concept of inference rule derivation from flow graphs introduced recently by Pawlak. The searching engine utilizes knowledge acquired in advance and stored in flow graphs in order to enable searching CD records database. The experimental results showing the effectiveness of analyzing musical metadata with this method are presented in the paper.
