Abstract
More and more vehicles are being equipped with communication devices. Whereas first phases of telematics deployment focussed on cellular telephone integration, future automotive communication channels will include broadband technologies such as Satellite Radio or Wireless LAN. Applications are manifold: they range from plain telephony or entertainment for vehicle drivers and passengers to more advanced vehicle-centric uses such as remote diagnosis, traffic-dependent navigation or electronic toll collection.
