Abstract

Sharing of structured data in decentralized environments in the absence of a global schema is a challenging problem. In the context of P2P database systems we are investigating methods for the better fulfilment of peer-database information needs. Towards this end, we focus on the problem of query degradation along the propagation path. The solution we develop is a method that utilizes only normal query traffic in order to discover remote veiled peers with interesting information. Furthermore we intend to work on the dynamic exploitation of local knowledge for the general benefit of the P2P system.
