Abstract

After a quick transition from Standard Definition Television (640 × 480) to High Definition Television (1,920 × 1,080), developments are already fully underway to move to even higher resolutions. The continued upward trend to higher resolutions is facilitated by both larger screen sizes and by the amazing advances in digital photography that enable capture of multi-gigapixel images.
