Abstract

In MAS, agents sometimes require services that other agents provide. In addition, agents could ask for the performance of the requested services in a bounded time. The late fulfilment of some services could reduce the quality of the response offered by a multi-agent system. Therefore, before committing itself to performing a service, an agent must analyse if it is able to complete the service within a specific time. This article proposes the use of the case-based reasoning methodology to carry out this analysis. A framework featuring a Commitment Manager that takes commitment decisions on the basis of previous experiences is presented in the paper.
