Abstract
Half-path Round-Trip Time (HPRTT) is defined as the RTT metric from a host to the passive measurement point (MP), and a general passive method is proposed for continually measuring of HPRTT for different hosts in backbone network. Comparing with current passive RTT estimation methods, this method can obtain more measurement samples from different TCP activity scenes. Test result shows it works properly and effectively with Gbps traffic.
