Abstract
This paper presents a management structure and methodology for determining a root cause of trunk delay due to trunk congestion events. Based on trunk delay measurements, we conclude that a High Trunk Utilization (HTU) alert can be determined by correlating Constant Bit Rate (CBR) and Variable Bit Rate-non real time (VBR-nrt) trunk delay data. An automated adaptive procedure is developed to prevent trunk congestion before the user is impacted.
