Abstract

The Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) approach has been developed to enhance the integration of various systems functionalities to allow organizations to be more flexible in case of business changes. In this paper we propose a model developed from an analysis of the state of the art in SOA, that describes what aspects (hereafter called “components”) need to be included into a SOA methodology. The SOA component model relies on the importance of model support advocated in Business Process Management (BPM), a key enabler and baseline for successful SOA implementations. We then show how the model can be used to analyze existing SOA methodologies and identify their strengths and weaknesses.
