Learning Network Services for Professional Development

Abstract

The purpose of a Learning Network is to provide opportunities for learning in a way that goes beyond course and curriculum centric models: they envision a learner-centred and learner controlled model of learning (Koper 2004). Lea et al. (2003) describe how studies into student perceptions and experiences of student-centred approaches tend to show favourable results. Their own study revealed that students consider student-centred approaches more motivating and effective than conventional didactic models.
