Abstract

Proposed a novel method to detect dim targets in infrared image sequences. To suppress noises and fluctuations in the background, a preprocess that multiply wavelet coefficients at the adjacent small-scales is applied based on the dependencies between wavelet coefficients; Aimed at pseudo-targets remained in the preprocessed image, separate dim targets from the background using morphology, the dissimilarity of double-windows according to the priori knowledge of the target’s area and the moving continuity of targets. Experiments show that the algorithm has obvious advantages at positioning dim targets precisely.
