Abstract

In nodes of wireless sensor networks, the block cipher technology with chaos permutation and nonlinear Feistel structure with permutation is proposed for single byte confidential communication. The chaos sequence was generated from the permutation key and chaos parameters. The plaintext in one byte was encrypted by exclusive-or operation with chaos sequence, and then was input into multiple turn Feistel structure. Finally the ciphertext was generated by permutation operation with the chaos sequence again. The square operation, nonlinear and chaos permutation operation was enclosed into the cipher function in the Feistel structure. The test was completed in nodes. The result is that the algorithm can be used for encryption and decryption in single chip microprocessor exactly and suitable for nodes in wireless sensor networks. The conclusion is that the chaos permutation cipher may enforce the safety in sensor networks.
