Adaptation of Trend Analysis Method to Various Modes of Temperature Operation for Suspension Polymerization Using Ultrasound

Abstract

This paper presents an adaptation method of trend analysis based on Charbonnier’s approach to various operational modes in two types of ultrasonic irradiation system for batch polymerization process. In the integral-type ultrasonic irradiation system, it is found that temperature operation in the early polymerization influences the number of extracted segments and their lengths in trend analysis of temperature data. Moreover, when PI control of the reactor temperature is installed in the separate-type ultrasonic irradiation system, trend extraction from time-series data of manipulated variable, which indicates flow rate of circulating water, is demonstrated to be effective for determination of timing of control actions.
