A Schema Digest Based Metadata Encapsulation Architecture with Shared String Tables

Abstract

We propose a simple but efficient encapsulation architecture that is used to encode Extended Markup Language (XML) based service information for a TV Anytime (TVA) metadata delivery model. In the proposed architecture, a schema digest and common string tables are applied to multiple fragments while the existing scheme utilizes an independent individual string table for each fragment. The experimental results show that we can achieve significant improvements compared with the existing architecture through the schema digest and common string tables.
