Abstract

Ubiquitous and pervasive computing contribute significantly to the quality of life for dependent people by providing personalized services in smart environments. Due to the sensitive nature of home scenario, and the invasive nature of surveillance, the deployment of those services still require privacy and trust issues for dependent people. Various technologies have been proposed to address the privacy issue in smart home, however, they rarely consider the feasibility and possibility of their privacy strategies. Given that a huge batch of data is captured and processed in smart home system, it may not be easily implemented as issues related to data sharing and delivery may arise. Our work seeks to aid pub/sub mechanisms in smart home environment with the ability to handle parameterized constraints, simultaneously ensuring users’ privacy and solves emergency tasks efficiently.
