Abstract

By using nonlinearity characteristics of semiconductor optical amplifier, an all-optical half-adder is demonstrated for contention detection and minimization at 1 Gb/s. The half adder based on XGM and FWM of SOA. Contention detection subsystem provides all the necessary control signals. The state of contention minimization system is controlled by these signals.
