Abstract
Research applying logic and reasoning to natural language processing (NLP) requires large costly hand built knowledge resources. Time, effort, and the cost of producing these resources usually leads to limited coverage. There is a need to extract knowledge from textual knowledge resources, such as dictionaries, encyclopedias, and textbooks and then convert it into a format usable by reasoning NLP systems. My goal is to begin this task with extracting knowledge from dictionaries and demonstrating its utility in NLP tasks.
