Abstract

The smart grid, next generation electric system, is aimed at installing a system that provides efficient electric supply and demand. The system implemented with AMI (Advanced Metering Infrastructure) system centrally collects electric usage information through bidirectional communication link between customers and service providers. In this communication, the collected real time electric usage data may contain various confidential and privacy information. Therefore, privacy protection becomes one of the biggest issues in smart grid. In this manner, we propose a novel privacy-enhanced AMI system using searchable encryption and homomorphic encryption techniques. The proposed system protects customers’ privacy information and supports real time measuring of electric usage information. Moreover, we verify that proposed AMI system is practical to implement on the existing smart grid environment.
