Abstract

In this article, a robot designed to detect fissure underneath the bridge is presented. While the robot is working, it actually walks on a the truss stretches from a truck, automatically avoiding obstacles ahead in aid of the sensors and micro-controller. The whole device, equipped with CCD camera, can agilely move with the three degree mechanical structure. Moreover, the system performs brilliantly in identifying cracks from the complex view under the bridge and providing exact parameter related to it such as length, width and position by utilizing improved algorithm. This machine can also be operated by man directly to adjust the camera’s position, once the fissure was discovered.
