Abstract

The use of passive spring and damping elements with fixed unchangeable characteristics of the suspensions of vehicles suspension is a compromise in terms of the characteristics of these components selection criterion for the sake of safety and comfort. In these embodiments, it is impossible to adjust the parameters of the suspension. The use of spring and damping elements with controlled characteristics for semiactive, active and adaptive suspension to adjust the suspension for specific road conditions and driving style. The paper presents a comparison of passive solutions based on traditional mechanical components and hydropneumatic suspension and active adoption used in vehicles, comparing the characteristics of spring and damping elements used in these solutions.
