Abstract
How to establish a scientific and rational organization and management platform for geospatial data is undoubtedly the premise and basis of geo-informatics applications. Because of their special classes and characteristics, it is very difficult for traditional database to organize and manage geospatial data effectively. In order to solve the problem, the multi-grid model was introduced in this paper, including the construction principle, encoding method and the superiority of multi-grid. A new organization and management approach for geospatial data based on multi-grid model was then proposed. Combining the traditional database technology with multi-grid model, the proposed approach not only significantly achieves the integrated storage and management of different types of geospatial data, but also greatly improves the interaction and visualization of geospatial data organization and management.
