Abstract
Many wide-spread products in different domains of application like word-processing or multimedia authoring have been supplemented with hypermedia properties. For the development of hypertexts in these applications, it is important to consider the specific needs of each particular class of application. For the majority of applications, we doubt that there will ever be something like a generic hypertext user interface. We argue instead, that the discussion should rather be focused on the process of creating and updating hypertexts.
