Abstract

This paper presents an approach to the declarative representation of dynamic control knowledge for planning purposes. N.N. is a system with complex plan knowledge to guide its search. By using fairly simple techniques the semantics of this knowledge have been incorporated into N.N.’s knowledge bases, thus rendering unnecessary any procedural interpreter. This feature increases transparency and portability of the the knowledge bases and faciliates the construction of meta-systems, e.g. for knowledge debugging purposes.
