Abstract

CAD models of three-dimensional objects can be reconstructed by fitting the edges of wire frame models of object parts to gradient images. This paper presents a fitting method which also enables the estimation of the precision of the reconstructed model. It is shown that the usage of constraints within and between the models of the object parts significantly improve the precision. Results in a pilot project are briefly discussed.
