Zusammenfassung
Mobile IP was standardized by the IETF in 1995, and has been the inspiration for many new research projects and publications. It has been implemented for all major platforms, and freeware implementations are available for most of them. Yet, for various reasons, Mobile IP is far from ubiquitous. In this presentation, I describe the current state of Mobile IP, the protocol, and some implementations. Mobile IPv6 is described, particularly as it contrasts with Mobile IP for IPv4. Recent work to make Mobile IP more suitable for applications in new generation cellular telephone networks will also be described. Finally, in order to place Mobile IP and its variations in a meaningful context for its application to mobile computing and mobile networking, the relationship of Mobile IP and other nomadic protocol requirements will be discussed
