Das im Bereich „Entwicklung Systemsoftware“ der Nixdorf Computer AG eingesetzte Timesharingsystem UNIX* unterstützt mit seinen Software Tools wichtige Softwareproduktionsschritte. Andererseits bieten Mikroprozessor Entwicklungssysteme (MDS) durch spezielle Hardware eine gezielte Unterstützung des Testens hardwarenaher Betriebssoftware. Um die Vorteile der Softwareentwicklung auf UNIX und des Testens mit dem MDS zu vereinigen, wurde eine Kopplung von UNIX und einem MDS realisiert. Der Beitrag erläutert den so ermöglichten Softwareproduktionsablauf, die zur Verfügung stehenden Tools und weist am Beispiel der realisierten Übertragungsprozedur auf einige Programmentwurfs- und Dokumentationsstandards hin.
