Abstract

The authors introduce Decision-Action-Nets (DA nets) which are derived from Predicate-Transition nets. The main emphasis is put on having a fully formalized tool for the specification of software allowing incompleteness and inconsistencies to be checked automatically. Therefore, the authors follow the algebraic approach to specifying and implementing abstract data types. For the purpose of software specification, which is done very late on in system development, DA nets are a very useful tool because static and dynamic aspects of data structures can be illustrated graphically.
