Abstract

In the design of computational systems to coach pupils in the acquisition of an ability it can be profitable to consider errors in the performance of the pupil. In such a situation the coaching system should be able to make a diagnosis of erroneous performance. For the diagnosis of errors in the execution of certain tasks, one should gain insight in the processes that are involved in the execution of these tasks. A way to acquire this insight is to construct a computational model of the processes and to run it on a computer in a so-called simulation.
