Kurzfassung
Digitale Bilder stellen eine größere Datenmenge (ab 256 kByte) dar, als sie bei konventioneller Datenübertragung auftritt. In dieser Arbeit wird eine Methode präsentiert, welche sowohl progressive Übertragung als auch komprimierte Speicherung von digitalen Bildern ermöglicht. Diese Methode wurde von Burt und Adelson für die 5 × 5/4 Pyramide entwickelt. Wir verwenden als Datenstruktur eine 3 × 3/2 Pyramide. Dadurch ist ein glatterer Bildaufbau bei der Übertragung möglich. Die Komprimierungsraten, die sich bei Versuchen ergaben, liegen zwischen 1:10 und 1:20.
