Zusammenfassung
Die Forschungsanstrengungen auf dem Gebiet des Maschinellen Lernens gelten dem Studium von Lernprozessen und der Implementierung von Lernverfahren auf Computeranlagen. Ähnlich wie bei den anderen Forschungsrichtungen im Bereich der Künstlichen Intelligenz (KI) liegt die Motivation zum einen darin, Lernfähigkeit als eine Ausprägung von menschlicher Intelligenz zu studieren, zu modellieren und zu simulieren. Zum anderen soll die Konstruktion und Wartung wissensbasierter Computersysteme durch maschinelles Lernen (unabhängig von einer wie auch immer gearteten kognitiven Adäquatheit der verwendeten Verfahren) unterstützt und automatisiert werden.
Diese Arbeit entstand im Rahmen des LILOG-Projektes der IBM Deutschland GmbH an der Universität Osnabrück
