Abstract

Central supervising and management of wide-area measuring networks are an important part of environment protection. Using the example of hydrological measurements in Baden-Württemberg, structure and basic functions of these types of networks are discussed. A general system model comprising communication, information and basic application services is proposed providing a powerful platform to support a broad ränge of known and future applications.
